Wychavon Festival of Brass

The band participated in our first ever contest at the weekend are are delighted to announce that we WON in the Fourth Section!

We travelled down on Saturday from Putney to Evesham to take part in Wychavon Festival of Brass. It was an entertainment contest meaning we had to prepare a 20 minute programme which the band pulled off with aplomb. We played:

  • Our signature march PWBB, composed for us by Derek Broadbent-
  • Emerald Skies, a solo for flugelhorn composed by Paul Lovatt-Cooper for which our flugel Ben won BEST SOLOIST
  • Saxon Inn, part of the Wessex suit composed by Derek Broadbent-
  • Trailblaze by our favourite composer Goff Richards

On top of our win and best soloist prize, our baritones also won best section. All in all, it was a terrific weekend and the band are delighted to have exceeded what we could have expected for our first contest. We’re looking forward to more success in the future!
